No, that’s a Norwegian-writer-bloke. I can’t remember by jove his name, since I’m mixing him up with another chap. I don’t want to name him until I’m entirely sure.
XD I was kidding. He just reminds me of this guy, from Planet of the Apes:

I was astonished to come across this self-portrait of the artist Romaine Brooks at the Brooklyn Museum of Art’s fantastic exhibit Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture.
I don’t know what the intentions were of the costume department of Sherlock in sewing red thread around the button hole, but as moonblossom and I were discussing, there is certainly a strong resemblance to Germaine Brooks’ portrait. The red buttonhole, the popped collar, the leather gloves….
I especially love the fact that Romaine Brooks was a queer artist who depicted women in gender-bending ways. A lovely visual inspiration for Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock.
This is very interesting to me. Looking at the two side-by-side, I can’t imagine it’s nothing but coincidence. Even if it wasn’t intentional, I think someone in the art or costuming department must have come across the portrait at some point, and it must have left a significant impact. There are conscious addition/decisions to Sherlock’s outfit, such as the red buttonhole and the popped collar Emma mentions, that just seem way too perfectly matched to be entirely accidental.

I get this about some of mine, too. Especially the one on my leg, since the artist did an amazing job of reproducing Van Gogh’s brushwork, so it really looks like daubed paint. It’s still such a weird question to ask…I SAW THE VAN GOGH ONE WHEN YOU POSTED IT. It is beautiful. I think that is why I get asked about my often, because it was a design I drew myself and it looks like a sketch. It is odd. If you see it more than once and it looks identical, it’s safe to assume it’s permanent.
Thank you! I really love it!
I just think it’s strange that people would even assume by default that a tattoo is fake.
moonblossom replied to your post: J’ai besoin des gens parler Francais avec.
You guys!
That awkward moment when your ridiculously perverted and inappropriate comment is screenshotted for all to see!

moonblossom replied to your post: Oh, God, no. I watched “Inseparable.” Oh God. Oh God.
I think it’s a testament to his skill that such a short film with so little dialogue can be so incredibly poignant and emotive.Yes. I still hate him right now, but yes. And he WAS both those characters. No matter what he was wearing; he was TWO different men. And he was so skillful. And beautiful.
I hate him SO EFFING MUCH.
(argh missing e is being a butt)
Watch the adorable BIFA interview again. It will make you laugh. It might make you hate him more though, cause no man has the right to be that charming.
moonblossom replied to your post: ONCE I CRIED BECAUSE OF SPOILERS
I am really sorry that happened :( I can understand accidentally coming across spoilers that are just posted on someone’s dash, but intentionally dumping them in someone’s inbox is incredibly tacky and rude.Exactly.
I don’t care much if I read them myself on the dash, because then it’s my own fault, and I tend to just scroll past them if I can tell if they’re about something I haven’t seen/read yet. But really. In my ask box? really?
I always feel really bad when I accidentally spoil things for people. I remember ruining the major character death in Final Fantasy 7 for a friend of mine (I just assumed she’d already played it since it was like, ten years old at that point) and I felt awful for months afterwards. I just don’t understand people who derive glee out of that sort of thing. There’s fun silly trolling (Mofftiss I am looking at you as a collective unit) and then there’s just cruel, mean-spirited nonsense. :/
