Fandom Yarn Giveaway!

To preview my upcoming shop update on etsy, I’m going to do a little giveaway!

The WINNER will be able to choose one of the following:

1) Doctor Who Mini-Skein Pack containing five 10g (40yd) skeins in You Sexy Thing, Sonic Screwdriver, Time Vortex I, Time Vortex II, and Bowties are Cool.
2) Sherlock Holmes Mini-Skein Pack containing five 10g (40yd) skeins in A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of Four, A Scandal in Bohemia, The Final Problem, and 221b Baker Street.
3) Hunger Games Mini-Skein Pack containing five 10g (40yd) skeins in Katniss Everdeen,  Gale Hawthorne, Primrose Everdeen, The Girl on Fire, and Peeta Mellark.
4) One 50g (200 yd) skein in Sarah Jane Smith

All yarn is hand-dyed by myself on a sturdy 75% wool, 25% nylon sock-weight base. The yarn is superwash, but minimal bleeding is possible due to the hand-dyed nature of the yarn, so caution is urged when washing. All dyes are food-safe ;-)

I can’t knit to save my life but I know several people who are mad talented, and I would totally dump this gorgeous yarn on them and be all “yo, knit me something”. Cause that’s how I roll.

Top Ten: Martha Jones is Flawless
2. Journey’s End (4x13)

The moment is easily one of my favourites ever, not just for Martha but in the whole Doctor Who series. Martha was in love with the Doctor, but when she shows up to help save the world and sees Rose, she’s just happy for them. No jealousy, no cattiness, just ‘oh my god, he found you,’ because Martha Jones is strong and so infinitely classy. After everything that she went through, after all the heartbreak, feeling like she was second-best, the year that never was - after all these things, Martha is just completely happy for him. To me, the amazingness of this scene was nothing to do with Doctor/Rose and everything to do with Martha Jones being one of the classiest and most flawless characters in Who history. It must have hurt her to see them together but she’s not jealous - she’s simply glad they found each other. Not many people are so wonderfully selfless and empathetic.

This is the one moment that changed my mind about Martha. All I could do was going: I hadn’t expected this. 
Really, I hadn’t. And then I just thought: Wow.  

This was a really eye-opening moment for me about her too. In retrospect, I often feel that she got shortchanged by the writers - you had this incredibly strong, intelligent woman whose character was often defined first and foremost by her love for the Doctor, rather than all the awesome facets of her personality.

But then you get moments like this, moments where she’s written to be mature and brave and puts her own feelings aside for the “greater good”, if you will, and you remember what a fantastic person she is.
